Grazing

Grazing in Paradise - Al Feldstein
my mind has gone to distant pastures
in search of some abstruse feed
and here I sit ruminating
on what has been...and what can be
will it return to me satiated?
or will it try again to break free?
the grazing is green where I’m at
yet it has not the aroma of faraway dreams

55 word poem
Wayfarer

I know you seek naught from me
Yet feel the weight of your woes
The distant dream of forgotten shores
Inexorably fading in your eyes
For the promises have all but come to naught
Precipitating to shattered dreams, smothered hopes
Shards of expectations stripped of desires...
Have you found life’s milestones set in sighs?
Oh wayfarer across tides of discord
I wish there was a port I could reach you to
Sail you across the gulf of abrasion
And unburden the ache of ages in your eyes
Yet my ship is not yours to travel
This frail craft is prone to many a travails
While there are many an ocean to bestride
It remains captive to destiny's caprice
I do wonder how to bid adieu
For forlorn, you prepare for another goodbye
Yet I do leave behind some breaths of love
To power the winds that’ll sail you across your skies

Insomniac
Measuring distances of time While the dream angel, ethereal But I lay awake - Abhi
Insomniac Sheep - Rob Scotton
in tosses and turns…
Prepare for sleep?
No no I'd rather be awake...
in ever looping loops
pitching my queries into the night
stood silently besides...forlorn
waiting for me
to let go of illusive logic
leave the dream...I called reality
to live the reality of a dream tonight
slip into the kinema it had pre-woven
take a dive into that realm ethereal...
making love to my musings
taking myriad profundities
to the pillow
on a lone quest to locate
the epicentre of an elusive ache
The dream remained a mirage
and I remained...an insomniac
The two loves

The Love
Like the fireworks
Glorious...brilliant
And ephemeral
Occupied its place
In memory
While the Love
Like the star
though dim and distant
kept company
Till the rescue by light
The break of dawn...
The night
The other witness
Smiled at itself
Without its darkness
Who could have seen
The play of two loves?

Written sometime near last Diwali. Posting it here this Diwali...may all celebrate this festive season with love...in love.
Sparklers

Sparklers
Evanescent
Like your smile
Yet when alight
Pure delight

Written Diwali 2004
Monsoon

Was it lightning
That brushed my skin
At the graze of your touch
Light...alight...delight
Or simply the moment
Pregnant with desire
Like the tumescent cloud
Waiting to burst forth
Pent up...dark
To know the heat
Of the parched season
Will dissipate
To the rage
Of the torrent
Screams...the winds
The droplets tear
Shards of sanity
Passionate in disrepair
In this season
In your arms
I drowned...again
Inundated
By the effulgence
Yours...now spent
